Job Summary: Talent Software Services is in search of a Specialty
Pharmacy Technician for a contract position in Orlando, FL. The
opportunity will be three months, with a strong chance for a
long-term extension.
Position Summary: The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacist
in providing safe and appropriate pharmacy services to patients in
accordance with the policies and procedures of the state's
professional standards and other regulatory entities. The Pharmacy
Technician works under the direct supervision of a licensed
pharmacist and assists in the dispensing process by performing data
entry, prescription preparation, claims processing, labeling,
packaging, packing, and delivery of medications and related
services to patients.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Entering and processing new and refill prescription orders, supply
and equipment requests while maintaining productivity and quality
standards.
Filling patient orders accurately by selecting and retrieving the
appropriate medications, verifying quantities, and preparing
prescription labels for medications and related supplies.
Forwarding orders to Pharmacist for completion, verification,
and/or clarification.
Accurately entering data into the pharmacy computer system so that
appropriate paperwork is generated.
Selecting appropriate supplies and ancillaries based on medication
requirements, patient need, and preference.
Contacting patients, caregivers, and prescribers as needed to
secure refill authorization, initiate order clarification, and
obtain information necessary to complete the patient's profile and
the dispense process.
Adjudicating pharmacy claims, reviewing and resolving claim
rejections; contacting insurance plans for assistance as
needed.
Assisting with product purchasing, inventory, and equipment
management as needed.
Ensuring client-specific materials are paired with orders and
prepared for shipment.
Assisting in the shipping process by selecting appropriate packing
materials and packing methods and generating shipping labels.
Cleaning dispensing area equipment and replenishing workstation
supplies prior to the end of their shift or as scheduled.
Providing excellent customer service to patients, internal and
external customers.
Performing additional duties as assigned related to the practice of
pharmacy that do not require a pharmacist's professional
judgment.
Qualifications:
Three to five years of pharmacy experience. Understands drug
terminology and therapies/services provided in specialty
pharmacy.
Understands and can perform intermediate pharmaceutical
calculations to obtain correct doses of medications. Understand the
broader organizational structure and the scope of services the
company has to offer.
Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and proprietary
information.
Observed legal and ethical guidelines for safeguarding the
confidentiality of patient and proprietary company information.
Understands and complies with HIPAA. Participates in the process
for assessing, managing, and reporting medication-related incidents
and equipment error and/or failures.
Accurately completes quality assurance forms and forwards them to
the supervising pharmacist. In all activities, complies with
accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
Participates in on-call responsibilities of the pharmacy department
if required.
