doing...As a Senior Network Operations Engineer (legacy title, Sr.
Switch Engineer), you will provide technical expertise in a
critical role involving network transformation, network outages,
service issues, network optimization, and maintenance. You will be
responsible for providing support to keep things running smoothly
and change the way that our customers live, work, and play. We are
a 24x7 highly visible Operations environment that performs
troubleshooting, configuration changes, drive issues to resolution,
and related functions.
- Configuring and maintaining Nokia router backhaul products
(7750 SR12, 7750SR1, 7705 SAR, 7250, 7210SAS, IXRs, IXRe,
MLS).
- Advanced troubleshooting of Nokia/ALU CSR routers and Routing
Protocols; MLS. - CSR 7705, 7750 SR1 IXRs, IXRe.
- Performing optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of
network systems and applications to identify overall system
availability and performance.
- Performing triage, fault isolation, and remediation of network
events.
- Generating, driving, and updating problem-tracking tickets via
multiple systems and continuously improving business
practices.
- Escalating issues to the appropriate internal/external engineer
teams for resolution.
- Focusing on Loss of Diversity and Loss of Visibility.
- Monitoring building automated systems to maintain operation of
network equipment such as AC/DC power systems and HVAC
systems.
- Accommodating to flexible work hours as there will be night
shifts, OT and On-Call.What we're looking for...You're tech savvy
and well-versed in all thing's telecommunications. Being the first
one to encounter and solve a problem is enjoyable to you. You're
great at following an established process or procedure to complete
tasks. Experience navigating and working well at all levels in a
fast-paced, ever-changing network environment. You are dependable
and enjoy supporting the rotational needs of a technical
environment. You're also thorough, vigilant, and on top of the
details someone people count on to solve problems and to make sure
they don't happen in the first place.You'll need to have:
- Associate's degree or two or more years of work
experience.
- Three or more years of relevant work experience.
- A valid driver's license.
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends and
holidays.Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- A technical degree in Electronics or Telecommunications.
- Computer support experience, including troubleshooting PC
hardware and configurations.
- Vendor management experience.
- Knowledge of telecommunications equipment and technologies like
Telephony Switching, Data Communications and Network Routers.
- Experience in data networking protocols including TCP/IP, OSI,
OSPF, BGP, MPLS, and BFD, SIP and other LAN /WAN protocols.
- Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, problem solving,
change management and influencing/motivating non-direct
reports.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate, collaborate, and work well
within a team environment to meet common goals.
- Strong leadership skills; proven ability to lead others towards
a common goal without a direct line of authority.If Verizon and
