Job Description:
SUMMARYThis position involves providing leadership and direction
to the Unit Child Care Program which includes responsibility for
direct supervision of direct care Staff, the Unit Secretary and
other personnel assigned by the Program Director II. The Unit
Director works in close contact with other program staff and with
personnel from other Youth Ranches programs in order to coordinate,
plan and direct the work of the teams in a smooth functioning
manner in the best interest of the youth, their families and the
agency. The Unit Director is responsible for developing esprit de
corps among the youth and staff in a Unit for the benefit of all
concerned.The Unit Director is directly responsible to the Program
Director II.This position is not eligible for overtime
pay.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following duties and
responsibilities are the various types of work performed in this
position. Other duties and responsibilities may also be
assigned.
- Develop and hold accountable assigned staff through
orientation, discipline, training, and evaluation.
- Coordinate and handle communications related to daily
schedules, campus activities, work program, and off-campus
activities by including direct care staff, and guardian and
collateral agencies.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Unit by being a sound
risk manager and assessing, communicating, and teaching group
concepts.
- Review and maintain case records on a regular basis in order to
ensure they are up to date and complete. Complete and distribute
reports and surveys as applicable to the Unit throughout the
year.
- Enhance Unit efficiency and effectiveness by regularly
reviewing the day-to-day practices, procedures, and expectations of
each staff and cottage with the Unit.
- Present Youth Ranches programs and policies to other agencies
and visitors; provide tours during special events and oversee
communications regarding donations to youth.
- Recruit, screen, and supervise volunteers, in consultation with
the Program Director II, in a manner that provides maximum benefit
to youth and is in compliance with state laws and licensing
criteria.
- Keep Program Director II informed of Unit activities and assume
the duties of the Program Director II in the absence of such and as
assigned.
- Participate in providing on-call duties for non-business
hours.
- Review case files and interview and assess potential candidates
for the residential youth services program.
- Maintain an ongoing individual relationship with each youth
assigned to the Unit. Be alert to symptoms of social, behavioral,
learning, and emotional problems. Work as an integral part of the
clinical team as it relates to youth development.
- If maintaining a therapeutic caseload, provide individual,
group, and family supportive therapy as deemed appropriate in the
youth's individual treatment plan; clearly document Medicaid
billing on a weekly basis for each assigned youth and participate
in a minimum of 4 hours of clinical supervision per month with a
licensed practitioner to enhance clinical skills development.
- Ensure youth's moral spiritual character development is
enhanced through exposure and education in the cottage.
- Ensure the procurement and purchasing of items for areas of
responsibility in accordance with agency purchasing policy and
procedures.
- Participate in the duty rotation to ensure on-site supervision
is available at all times.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSA
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in
social work or closely related human services field and two years'
experience is required. Preference will be given to qualified
candidates with a Master's degree and two years of group childcare
experience.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESTo perform this
job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each area
of responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed are

required.
- Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general
business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures,
and government regulations; write reports, business correspondence,
and procedural manuals; and effectively present information and
respond to questions from groups.
- Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in
all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and
decimals, compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
- Must have the ability to define problems, collect data,
establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret extensive
variety of instructions; and deal with problems involving a variety
of situations.
- Must have the ability to use sound judgment in assessing a
youth's physical and emotional needs.
- Must have the ability to write legibly and document necessary
information accurately.
- Must have knowledge of casework, group process, and family
counseling practices.
- Must have the ability to supervise multiple staff with varying
degrees of education and backgrounds.
- Must be willing to be flexible in work schedules and weekend
duties.
- Must possess the ability to remain calm and in control during
crisis situations.
- Knowledge of personal computers with application of Windows,
including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.
- Must have a valid Florida Driver License and be able to
maintain a safe driving record consistent with agency
policy.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical requirements described are
representative of those that must be met by the employee to
successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

regularly required to stand, walk, sit, hear, and reach with hands
and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move objects
weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by

perception, and the ability to focus.WORKING CONDITIONSThis
position is required to live on campus unless approved otherwise by
the FSYR President.The Unit Director must be flexible to provide
services when youth and families are available. The schedule will
be worked out with the supervisor so that the maximum service to
the Youth Ranches is obtained.Employee is occasionally required to
work in outdoor weather conditions.BASE SALARY$51,000
