Job Description:

Performs month-end close procedures to include journal entries and account analysis. Responsible for all aspects of the month-end close and financial statements and ensuring that they are completed timely and accurately.Submits necessary monthly reports and backup to corporate officers and other management as required in an accurate and timely fashion.

Abilities should include experience in various accounting system modules, such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Labor Distribution and Payroll.
Monitors bank activity for multiple accounts daily, including posting of cash receipts.
Prepares monthly bank reconciliation reports.
Maintains fixed asset schedules and posts depreciation expense.
Prepares and distributes 1099 forms on an annual basis.
Maintains subsidiary schedules supporting balance sheet accounts and reconciles monthly. Completes all monthly General Ledger reconciliations for timely review by the Director of Finance and Accounting.
Ensures that corporate deadlines are met.
Assists in the preparation of government/DOD required cost reports and schedules.
Supports government/DoD audits and reviews of company accounting and financial records.
Experience with filing local and state taxes such as sales tax and income tax is a plus.
Must be able to multi-task and work in a demanding, fast paced, multi-company environment.
Must be detail-oriented with strong math and analytical skills. Strong knowledge of spreadsheet (Excel), and word processing (Word) applications is required.
Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THESE QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited four-year college is required. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree, if applicable and or allowed under assigned contract.
5+ years of demonstrated accounting/finance and business experience- REQUIRED.
Must have demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize tasks- REQUIRED.
Experience as a staff accountant with the Department of Defense, or prior employment as a staff accountant for a DoD or Federal Government contractor- PREFERRED.
Hands-on experience using Deltek Costpoint- PREFERRED.
Working knowledge of federal government accounting regulations such as the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), or other Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) audit procedures- PREFERRED.
Knowledge of the government contract audit process and procedures- PREFERRED.
